Many browsers and operating systems require flash plug-ins to view flash. Many people are afraid to install programs and plug-ins when they are unsure of what they will do with the prevalence of spyware and virus that can be obtained by downloading.
Not to mention many people now browse the internet with portable devices.
Most mobile devices do not have flash capability.
